The University of Manchester seeks to appoint an outstanding individual who will enable The Global Development Institute to develop further its contribution to knowledge and research-led postgraduate teaching and research.

You will contribute to GDI’s aim to develop a keener focus on key areas within its research portfolio by building interdisciplinary research partnerships both within the School of Environment, Education and Development and across The University of Manchester and beyond, resulting in successful research bids.

Applications are particularly encouraged from candidates whose work addresses the relationship between environmental governance and social and economic inequality and poverty.  The person appointed will be expected to pursue research in their areas of specialization and play a role in developing GDI’s environment and climate change research, linking it to work undertaken by complementary disciplines at Manchester on a range of topics including sustainability, climate change, social justice and the reduction of poverty and inequality.  Relations with the newly created Manchester Environment Institute, The Tyndall Centre and the Global Challenges Research Fund's Dams 2.0 Research Programme will be encouraged. 

The post is tenable from 1st March 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Salary will be within the professorial salary scale according to relevant experience.

Interviews are likely to be held in February 2018.
